The weather on 16th March 2025 is expected to be characterized by showers and thundershowers across various regions in Sri Lanka. Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as in Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Nuwara-Eliya, and Matale districts.

After 1:00 p.m., showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere on the island. Fairly heavy showers, with rainfall exceeding 75 mm, can be expected at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and North-western provinces. The southern half of the island will experience cloudy skies.

Misty conditions are likely in the morning in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in Galle, Matara, and Kurunegala districts.

The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.


WEATHER FORECAST FOR SEA AREAS AROUND THE ISLAND DURING NEXT 24 HOURS 

Condition of Rain:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Galle via Batticaloa and Hambantota. Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island during the evening or night. 

Winds:

Winds will be North-easterly or variable and speed will be (20-30) kmph. 

State of Sea:

Sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
