The token strike launched by the Government Medical Officer's Association (GMOA) across all hospitals in Sri Lanka concluded at 8:00 a.m. today. The protest was held in response to the alleged sexual assault of a female doctor.

The strike, which affected healthcare services across the country, was organized to express solidarity with the victim and to demand swift action against those responsible.

The GMOA called for the immediate implementation of stronger measures to ensure the safety and protection of healthcare professionals, particularly women, in the workplace.

Hospital services were disrupted for a brief period, but the strike ended as planned this morning. The GMOA has stated that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and pursue further actions if necessary.

The association has urged the authorities to expedite investigations into the assault and to ensure justice for the affected doctor. The incident has sparked widespread outrage among healthcare workers, leading to this collective stand for justice and security within the medical profession.
