Suspect in Sexual Assault of Female Doctor at A'pura Hospital Identified

The suspect responsible for the sexual assault of a female doctor at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital has been identified as 34-year-old Kiribandalage Nilantha Madhuranga Ratnayake, also known as Kiribandalage Nilantha Madhurana Ratnayake. The suspect is a resident of the Galnewa, Navanagara area.
According to reports, Ratnayake, a turbaned man, had been released from remand just days before the assault in connection with another legal matter. He had previously absconded from military service and was sought by authorities.
The assault occurred when Ratnayake harassed the doctor and took one of her two mobile phones before fleeing the scene. Following the incident, a special police team launched an investigation and arrested the suspect today (March 12) in Galnewa.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, and further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
