According to reports, Ratnayake, a turbaned man, had been released from remand just days before the assault in connection with another legal matter. He had previously absconded from military service and was sought by authorities.
The assault occurred when Ratnayake harassed the doctor and took one of her two mobile phones before fleeing the scene. Following the incident, a special police team launched an investigation and arrested the suspect today (March 12) in Galnewa.
