The Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast for March 12, 2025, predicting several spells of showers in multiple regions of the island. The Northern, North-central, Eastern, Uva, and Southern provinces, along with Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts, will experience intermittent rainfall throughout the day.

Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at several locations across the country during the afternoon or night, with the possibility of fairly heavy rainfall in some areas. In particular, Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces could see rainfall amounts of up to 75mm in certain places.

The general public is urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, especially during thundershowers, as temporary localized strong winds and lightning may cause damage. Authorities recommend staying indoors during thunderstorms and avoiding outdoor activities where lightning is a risk.
