A Colombo-bound train arriving from Badulla has derailed between Nawalapitiya and Ulapane railway stations, causing a major disruption to train services on the Up-country Railway Line. According to Sri Lanka Railways, the engine of the train derailed in the Pallegama area.
Efforts are currently underway to re-rail the engine, with authorities working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. Passengers traveling on the Up-country Railway Line are advised to expect delays, and alternative travel arrangements are being provided where possible.
