
"Clean Sri Lanka" program to be implements in the healthcare sector

The committee, chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Anil Jasinghe, consists of 37 heads from the Ministry of Health and affiliated institutions. The committee will meet quarterly to make decisions and discuss ideas and proposals necessary for the effective implementation of the "Clean Sri Lanka" program in the health sector. The progress reports prepared by the committee will be submitted to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Media.
The committee's objectives also include strengthening the key areas of health services such as disease prevention, control, and management, and financial management, to effectively implement the "Clean Sri Lanka" program in the health sector. At the national level, the committee aims to provide policy guidelines, coordinate and monitor the implementation of those policies and guidelines.
The committee is also focused on improving the "Clean Sri Lanka" project and the integrated health system by providing strategic direction. This includes evaluating current activities, identifying new priority areas, and creating a team of officials representing each health sector to carry out selected activities under the guidance of the Operations Committee. The Ministry of Health and Media's Secretary, Dr. Anil Jasinghe, emphasized the need for officials to be appointed to the active teams quickly, and a special meeting will be held next week with the involvement of these appointed officials to plan future actions.
The committee also discussed the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of policy guidelines, the evaluation of project implementation in the health sector, and the mechanisms for reporting and reviewing progress quarterly. The identification of challenges and areas for improvement were also addressed during the discussion.
The "Clean Sri Lanka" program operates under the government's agenda with the theme "A Rich Country, a Beautiful Life," which aims to achieve not only environmental sustainability but also high social and economic standards and freedom similar to those enjoyed by people in developed countries. This program is designed to improve the quality of life of the people while promoting social, environmental, and ethical progress.
The meeting was attended by additional secretaries of the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine, Ms. K.M. Vathsala Priyadarshani, Additional Secretary (Public Health Services) Dr. Lakshmi Somathunga, Additional Secretary (Medical Services) Dr. D.K. Vikramasinghe, and other officials of the National Operations Committee of the Ministry of Health and Media.
