Island will continue to experience dry weather today

A few showers are also expected along the Eastern coastal areas tonight.

In the evening and night, there may be showers or thundershowers in several areas including Galle, Matara, Kalutara, and Rathnapura districts.

 Weather Forecast for Sea Areas Around the Island - 9 March 2025

Rain Conditions: Showers and thundershowers are expected at several places in the sea areas extending from Trincomalee to Hambantota, including the area off Batticaloa.

Winds: Winds will be from the north-easterly to easterly direction, with speeds ranging from 25 to 35 km/h. However, wind speeds are expected to increase to 45-50 km/h at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam, and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara.

Sea Conditions: The sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam, and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara, will experience fairly rough conditions at times. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas are expected during thundershowers.

Precautionary Advisory: Mariners and fishermen are urged to exercise caution in these areas due to the possibility of strong gusty winds and rough seas, especially during thundershowers.
