Former Minister Mervyn Silva, along with two others, was remanded until March 17 after being produced before the Mahara Magistrate's Court this evening. Silva was arrested by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on March 5, following allegations of selling state-owned land to a private party by forging documents.

The former Minister, who served in Sri Lanka's government, faces serious charges that have sparked significant public attention. The CID's investigation has raised concerns about potential corruption and the unlawful transfer of state assets.

Silva and the two accomplices were ordered to remain in custody as the investigation continues. The court proceedings are expected to unfold over the coming weeks, with further details expected to be revealed as the case progresses.
