
Former IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon Missing, Police Seek Public Assistance

Police Media Spokesman, SSP Buddhika Manathunga, revealed this information during a press conference today, urging the public to come forward with any details regarding his whereabouts.
Tennakoon, who served as IGP, is believed to be actively avoiding arrest, despite a pending warrant for his detention. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been tasked with investigating the matter, and the public is encouraged to report any relevant information to assist in locating the former IGP.
SSP Manathunga further emphasized that individuals who assist Tennakoon in evading capture will face legal consequences under Article 209 of the Sri Lankan Penal Code. The Police Spokesman made it clear that Tennakoon, despite his former high-ranking position, will not receive any special treatment and will be treated in the same manner as any other suspect.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to locate and apprehend the former IGP, with further developments expected in the coming days.
