Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera has officially been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force, effective from today, March 4. The announcement was made by the Sri Lanka Air Force, confirming the transition in leadership.
Air Vice Marshal Sumanaweera, who has served as the Director General of Air Operations, brings over three decades of experience to the role. He joined the Sri Lanka Air Force in 1991 and has held various key positions throughout his career, contributing significantly to the Air Force's operational capabilities.
The position of Chief of Staff was vacated following the retirement of Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickramaratne, who stepped down from his post yesterday after a distinguished career in the Sri Lanka Air Force.
