A devastating fire broke out in a row of estate houses in the KM section of the Shannon Estate in Hatton, destroying around 12 homes. The Hatton Police confirmed the extent of the damage but also noted that fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical leak, although investigations are ongoing. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the homes of several plantation workers and their families, leaving them without shelter and belongings.

Local residents, alongside plantation workers, have been working tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further. However, despite their valiant efforts, the destruction of homes and personal property remains a significant blow to the community.

Authorities are continuing to assess the situation, and support efforts are underway to provide assistance to those affected by the fire. Further updates will be provided as investigations and relief efforts progress.
