Complain to CID Over Illegally Collected fuel Distribution Commission

The group claims that this practice has led to considerable public suffering.
The complaint, filed with the CID, accuses oil distributors of violating national regulations, including breaches of the National Audit Office’s standards, constitutional mandates, and even court rulings. It alleges that 1,400 distributors have been given an astounding 37 billion rupees of public money, which was then illegally distributed for commissions.According to the Citizens' Power Against Bribery, Corruption, and Waste, this unlawful activity is hindering the smooth distribution of oil and causing unnecessary hardships for the public. The group has also demanded that the government take swift action to reclaim the 37 billion rupees, which they assert should be returned to the people, in compliance with constitutional principles and judicial orders.
The group’s chairman, Kamantha Thushara, expressed concern over the significant financial impact of these illicit transactions. Thushara emphasized that these funds belong to the people under the Public Property Act and that a small group of businessmen have wrongfully pocketed enormous profits, with one distributor alone allegedly earning 26 million rupees annually in commissions.
In their petition, the Citizens' Power Against Bribery, Corruption, and Waste has called for legal action against the political authorities and officials responsible for authorizing such large-scale misappropriation of public funds. They are demanding accountability for the decisions that led to this corruption, insisting that both political leaders and officials who violated the constitution must be held responsible.
As the investigation moves forward, the public will be watching closely to see whether authorities take meaningful action to restore the funds and ensure justice for those harmed by this alleged corruption.
