The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board is set to review Sri Lanka's third review under its Extended Fund Facility (EFF) on Friday, February 28, 2025. This review follows a staff-level agreement reached on November 23, 2024, between IMF staff and Sri Lankan authorities.
Once the review is approved, Sri Lanka will have access to approximately $333 million in financing under the EFF program. The approval will be a significant milestone in Sri Lanka's ongoing economic stabilization efforts.
In March 2023, the IMF's Executive Board approved a 48-month extended arrangement for Sri Lanka, amounting to SDR 2.286 billion (395 percent of its quota, or roughly $3 billion). This program is part of Sri Lanka's efforts to address its fiscal challenges and restore macroeconomic stability.
The successful completion of this third review will provide further support to Sri Lanka's reform program and help ensure the continued disbursement of vital financial assistance.
