
Minister Nalinda Holds Meeting with World Bank Representatives

Minister of Health, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, has announced his decision to continue receiving support from the World Bank to further enhance the country’s free healthcare system.
This was confirmed following a crucial meeting held at the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, where Minister Jayatissa met with Dr. Feng Zhao, the Manager of Health, Nutrition, and Population for the World Bank’s South Asia Region.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the current status of the free health service in the country and laid out plans for future improvements in the healthcare sector. Minister Jayatissa highlighted the new government’s special program aimed at strengthening primary healthcare services nationwide, emphasizing the importance of equitable access to healthcare for all citizens.
Further discussions focused on the ongoing digitalization of healthcare institutions, including hospitals. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize the health sector and improve service delivery. The Minister also addressed the need for enhancing the physical infrastructure of hospitals providing secondary and tertiary healthcare services, ensuring they meet the growing demands of the population.
