Sri Lanka Customs has issued a public warning about an organized scam operation where fraudsters are impersonating the Director General of Customs to deceive individuals.

The scam involves a WhatsApp account under the name "DGC Mr. Nonis," which is being used to send fraudulent messages to the public, requesting money for various purposes.

These scammers are reportedly asking for funds, along with providing bank account details for payment. The Customs Department has made it clear that these messages are not legitimate and have urged the public to be cautious.

In response to the rising number of complaints, Sri Lanka Customs is advising people not to fall victim to these fraudulent schemes and to refrain from making any payments or sharing personal information. The department has also recommended that anyone who receives such messages immediately report them to the nearest police station for investigation.

Authorities are working to trace and eliminate the scammers behind this operation and continue to emphasize the importance of public vigilance in such matters.
