Tragic Train-Elephant Collision in Gal Oya Leads to Death of Five Elephants

The herd of elephants, which had reportedly been crossing the tracks, was struck by the oncoming train at approximately 6:30 AM. The collision left five elephants dead and caused significant damage to the train's structure, disrupting train services along the Batticaloa-Colombo route.
