Colombo HC Grants Bail to MP Namal Rajapaksa in Krrish Deal Case

The Colombo High Court today granted bail to Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Member of Parliament, Namal Rajapaksa, after he was served with indictments in connection with the controversial Krrish deal case.

The court, presided over by Judge Manjula Tillekaratne, ordered Rajapaksa to be released on a cash bail of Rs. 100,000, with two sureties of Rs. 10 million each. Additionally, the court directed that Rajapaksa’s fingerprints be taken to verify any previous criminal records.

The case, which has garnered significant attention, relates to the controversial Krrish deal, which involves land transactions that allegedly violated legal procedures.

The court also set the date for the pre-trial conference to be held on March 27, 2025, where further proceedings in the case will be discussed.

Rajapaksa, a prominent political figure and son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has maintained his innocence in the matter.
