Budget uplift living standards across multiple sectors - Dr Suriyapperuma

Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, praised the Budget 2025 as a comprehensive financial blueprint aligned with the people's mandate. According to Dr. Suriyapperuma, this budget marks a departure from traditional approaches, focusing not just on providing immediate relief but on improving living standards across key sectors, including fisheries, agriculture, public and private sector employees, and the plantation industry.
"The budget is designed to set the nation on a new path, prioritizing long-term growth and development. It seeks to address pressing needs in multiple sectors, aiming for a sustained uplift in living standards," he explained.
While the ruling party's representatives lauded the proposals, opposition figures have raised concerns about its feasibility and long-term impact, setting the stage for a continuing debate over the proposed financial plan for 2025.
