Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya revealed that the government's 2025 budget will prioritize rural poverty eradication and comprehensive national development. Speaking at a public meeting in Mullaitivu, the Prime Minister outlined the government's vision of equitable development across all regions of Sri Lanka, ensuring that every citizen, regardless of their location, benefits from progress.
Dr. Amarasuriya emphasized that the government's goal is to create a society where citizens can live without fear, with development not limited to urban centers or specific groups. She highlighted the importance of focusing on rural areas and sectors like agriculture and fisheries to uplift communities in need.
The Prime Minister also underlined the government's commitment to creating an administration responsive to the public's concerns.
As the budget is set to be presented to Parliament by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Dr. Amarasuriya affirmed that it will provide a detailed roadmap for Sri Lanka’s development plans, with new initiatives aimed at tackling poverty and fostering sustainable growth across the country.
