Thirteen out of the 17 Sri Lankans who were forcibly detained in cybercrime camps in Myanmar have been successfully released. The group, comprising eleven young men and two young women aged between 20 and 30, were reportedly safe as of the latest updates.

These individuals are now being transported to the Sri Lankan Embassy in Bangkok, with plans to return them to Sri Lanka at a later date. The remaining four Sri Lankans are still held in separate cybercrime camps in Myanmar, and efforts to rescue them are ongoing.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that they are actively working to secure the release of the remaining detainees. Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath had previously sought assistance from Myanmar and Thailand during talks between Myanmar's Deputy Prime Minister and the Thai Foreign Minister.

The prompt action has provided relief to the families of those released, and authorities remain committed to ensuring the safe return of all Sri Lankan nationals held in Myanmar.
