The National Elderly Secretariat has announced that a monthly allowance of Rs. 3,000 will be provided to low-income adults over the age of 70, beginning February 20th, 2025. The initiative is part of a government effort to support elderly citizens in need, ensuring they have access to essential resources and improved financial security.
The allowance will be automatically credited to the eligible senior citizens' bank accounts starting from February 20th. The program is expected to benefit thousands of elderly individuals who face financial difficulties and will help ease their daily living expenses.
In a statement, the National Elderly Secretariat emphasized the importance of supporting the aging population and ensuring they can live with dignity. The initiative also aims to encourage other forms of social inclusion and help reduce disparities among senior citizens.
