
Thirteen Young Children Swept Away at Panadura Beach

The group, all under the age of 20, had been swimming despite warnings issued by lifeguards, including red flags indicating dangerous conditions. Among the group was an 18-year-old youth who has been reported missing after being swept away by the strong currents while swimming with his older brother and friends. Rescue efforts are ongoing to locate him.
PanaduraA lifeguard, who was part of the rescue operation, also sustained injuries after colliding with a sinking ship. Authorities urge the public to heed safety warnings and avoid risky activities, especially during adverse sea conditions.
The Panadura Life Saving Unit has stressed the importance of following safety protocols and has vowed to continue their efforts to locate the missing youth.
