The Department of Meteorology has forecasted that a few showers may occur in the Batticaloa, Ampara, Matale, Badulla, and Polonnaruwa districts today. Additionally, light showers are expected in parts of Galle, Matara, Kaluthara, and Rathnapura districts during the evening or night.
Meanwhile, fair weather will prevail across most other areas of the island.
Misty conditions are anticipated in the mornings across several regions, including the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, along with Galle, Matara, Badulla, and Kurunegala districts.
The public is advised to remain cautious during these weather conditions, particularly in areas prone to mist and fog.
The weather forecast for the sea areas around the island during the next 24 hours is as follows:
Rain: Showers are expected at a few places in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Hambantota via Batticaloa. The rest of the sea areas will experience mainly fair weather.
Winds: Winds will be north-easterly at speeds of 25-35 km/h. However, the wind speed could increase to 45-50 km/h at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
State of Sea: The sea will be fairly rough at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
Advisory: Mariners are advised to exercise caution in these areas, especially when venturing into the sea.
