The ongoing national power outage has been attributed to the failure of past governments to properly implement crucial plans aimed at stabilizing the national power grid. Energy Minister Eng. Kumara Jayakody expressed his concerns, highlighting that short-sighted decisions made by previous administrations have led to the current energy crisis.
In a press statement, Eng. Jayakody emphasized that while the present government is focused on addressing the issue, the lack of long-term vision and proper planning by earlier leaderships has severely strained the nation’s power infrastructure.
"The decisions made by past governments, which were often driven by short-term solutions, have left us vulnerable to the very outages we are now experiencing. A failure to invest in modernizing the grid and diversifying energy sources has resulted in the current state of affairs," Jayakody stated.
The Energy Minister assured the public that efforts are underway to restore power and that a more comprehensive, sustainable plan for stabilizing the grid would be implemented in the coming months. However, he cautioned that resolving the issue would take time and commitment.
The outage has prompted widespread frustration among citizens, with many calling for accountability and long-term strategies to prevent future disruptions.
