In a move approved by the National Police Commission, several Senior Deputy Inspectors General (Senior DIGs) and Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) of Police have been transferred, effective from February 12th. The reshuffle is expected to bring changes in various regions and departments.
As part of the changes, Waruna Jayasundara, the current Commanding Officer of the Police Special Task Force, has been appointed as the Senior DIG in charge of the Eastern Province. Meanwhile, DIG DGS de Silva has been appointed as the new Commanding Officer of the Special Task Force.
In addition to these appointments, sources indicate that several police Officer-in-Charges (OICs) are also set to be transferred. It has been decided that the OICs will return to their normal duties following the new assignments.
This move is part of ongoing efforts to streamline the operations of the police force and enhance efficiency across various divisions.
