The renowned Bharat Ranga Mahotsava (Bharangam), India's largest international drama festival, is being held in Colombo this year to celebrate its silver jubilee. Organized by the National School of Drama, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the prestigious event is scheduled to run until February 9.

The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, the cultural wing of the High Commission of India in Colombo, is spearheading the festival with support from the Sri Lanka University of Fine Arts. Performances will be staged at prominent venues including the Colombo Tower Theatre and the Panibharatha Theatre.

The festival will feature approximately 200 unique plays from around the globe, showcasing talent from countries including Russia, Italy, Germany, Norway, the Czech Republic, Nepal, Spain, and Sri Lanka. The diverse range of performances highlights the universal appeal of theatre as a medium of cultural exchange.

As the largest drama festival in the world, Bharat Ranga Mahotsava promises to be a spectacular celebration of the performing arts, bringing together artists, audiences, and cultures in a shared appreciation of theatre.
