Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Authority Appoints New Chairperson
Dr. Ratnayake, who holds a doctorate in nuclear engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan, is the only Sri Lankan to have earned a Ph.D. in this specialized field. With a strong academic background, she is currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moratuwa.
Her appointment marks a new chapter for the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Authority, and her extensive expertise in nuclear engineering is expected to contribute significantly to the country's advancement in nuclear science and technology.
Dr. Ratnayake’s leadership is anticipated to further strengthen Sri Lanka's efforts in the safe and effective use of nuclear energy, as well as its applications in various fields, including power generation and medical technology.
