Chinthaka Darshana Hewapathirana has resigned from his position as Chairman of the National Youth Services Council (NYSC). Hewapathirana, an Attorney-at-Law, was appointed as the 32nd Chairman/Director General of the NYSC on October 4, 2024, but tendered his resignation today for reasons that have not yet been disclosed.
The National Youth Services Council, a key institution for youth empowerment and development in Sri Lanka, will now be seeking a new leader to continue its mission of fostering opportunities for the nation's youth.
Hewapathirana's tenure as Chairman, although brief, was marked by his focus on enhancing the role of young people in national development. It remains to be seen who will succeed him in this important role, as the NYSC continues its work to shape the future of Sri Lanka’s youth.
