N.B.M. Ranatunga, the Chairman of the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA), has resigned from his position after just three months in office. His resignation was confirmed by his office, which stated that a formal resignation letter has been submitted to the Minister in charge of the housing sector.

Ranatunga, who assumed the role only in October 2024, reportedly included detailed reasons for his decision in a lengthy letter addressed to the Minister. While the contents of the letter have not been made public, sources indicate that it highlights challenges faced during his short tenure.

The NHDA has yet to comment on the next steps regarding the appointment of a new Chairman. As of now, the resignation is expected to prompt further discussions on the future direction of the housing authority and its ongoing projects.

Ranatunga’s brief tenure has raised questions about the stability and management within the NHDA, though specifics of the circumstances surrounding his decision remain unclear. Further updates are awaited as the situation develops.
