Sri Lanka Customs has announced the commencement of a four-day operation aimed at clearing the backlog of containers at the Colombo port. The operation, which began on January 30, will continue until February 2, 2025.

A dedicated team of officials has been deployed to facilitate the efficient clearance of the accumulated containers, ensuring that the port operates at optimal capacity. The Customs department has called on all relevant parties, including importers, shipping agents, and other stakeholders, to fully cooperate in supporting this initiative.

The clearance operation is expected to help reduce congestion at the port and improve the flow of goods, boosting Sri Lanka’s import and export operations. Customs officials are urging stakeholders to expedite the necessary paperwork and ensure timely clearance to avoid delays.

The public and all concerned parties are advised to stay informed about further developments regarding the operation through official channels.
