Sri Lanka has welcomed over 200,000 tourists in the first month of 2025, with a total of 212,838 visitors recorded between January 1 and 26, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
The influx of tourists marks a positive start to the year for the country’s tourism sector, which has been steadily recovering. The majority of visitors during this period came from neighboring India, reflecting the growing regional interest in Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
The surge in tourist numbers is seen as a promising sign for Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, which continues to be an important contributor to the nation’s economy. Authorities are optimistic that the trend will continue in the coming months, as Sri Lanka continues to promote itself as a prime destination for international travelers.
