The Agricultural and Farmers' Insurance Board has announced that compensation payments for crops damaged during last November's floods will begin today. The floods caused significant destruction to farmland across various regions of the island, with many farmers facing severe losses.

The compensation program will cover 13,379 acres of paddy fields in the affected districts of Polonnaruwa, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, and Trincomalee. Farmers in these areas will receive direct payments, which will be credited to their respective bank accounts.

This initiative aims to support affected farmers in their recovery and ensure the continued stability of the agricultural sector following the devastating floods.
