TRCSL to Implement New Software to Block Unapproved Mobile Phones

The system will prevent the use of mobile devices that are not registered with the TRCSL, in a bid to curb illegal activities and protect the public.
In a recent statement, TRCSL Director General, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Bandula Herath, urged the public to refrain from purchasing unapproved mobile phones. He emphasized that the TRCSL is taking steps to ensure that only legally approved devices are used within the country.
“We kindly request the public not to purchase any mobile phones that are not approved by our institution. We will soon be implementing a new automated system to prevent the use of such unauthorized phones,” said Herath.
The new initiative is expected to address the rise in illegal activities linked to unauthorized mobile devices. By blocking these phones, the TRCSL aims to reduce anti-social behaviors and enhance the identification of individuals involved in illegal transactions using mobile technology.
Herath also suggested that the widespread availability of legally approved mobile phones may lead to a reduction in market prices, benefiting consumers in the long term.
The TRCSL continues to encourage the public to purchase mobile phones through authorized channels to avoid disruptions in service and to comply with the new regulatory framework.
