The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) has initiated the establishment of a Cyber Security Operations Center aimed at safeguarding the websites of government institutions from cyber-attacks.

Senior Information Engineer Charuka Damunupola highlighted that the primary goal of the new center is to enhance the cyber security measures for key government websites.

He revealed that 40 critical government institutions have been identified in the first phase of this initiative, where targeted actions will be implemented to shield their online platforms from malware and cyber-attacks.

This strategic move underscores the growing need for robust cybersecurity infrastructure as digital threats continue to evolve, with government websites being increasingly vulnerable to attacks. The SLCERT’s efforts are expected to play a crucial role in bolstering national cybersecurity and ensuring the safety and integrity of Sri Lanka's digital infrastructure.

Further updates on the center’s progress and expanded phases of the initiative are expected as the project develops.
