The High Commission of India in Colombo marked the country's 76th Republic Day with a grand celebration at India House, the residence of the High Commissioner of India. Acting High Commissioner Dr. Satyanjal Pandey unfurled the national flag and inspected the Guard of Honour, before reading out excerpts from the President of India's Republic Day address.
The ceremony was a vibrant reflection of India’s rich cultural diversity, with performances by the Sri Lanka Navy Band and a cultural programme organized by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC). The event showcased a variety of traditional dance and music performances, highlighting the unity and diversity of India.

One of the key highlights was a rendition of patriotic songs, organized by the Indian Cultural Association (ICA), where children from the Indian community performed under the theme “Different States, One Spirit #India.” The performances were followed by a stunning semi-classical dance performance by SVCC students, set to India’s National Song, “Vande Mataram.”

The ceremony was attended by several hundred members of the Indian community in Sri Lanka, who gathered to commemorate the significance of the day and celebrate their cultural ties with India.
