Kumar Sangakkara, the renowned former Sri Lankan captain and former chairman of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), has been appointed the chairman of the World Cricket Advisory Committee (WCAC) at the MCC in England. The advisory board will be chaired by former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara, who served as MCC President from October 2019 to September 2021 and was the first non-British person to hold the role.

The MCC, known for being the custodian of the game’s laws and traditions, has entrusted Sangakkara with the responsibility of steering this influential body in the world of cricket.

The WCAC, under Sangakkara’s leadership, includes a distinguished group of cricketing leaders and former players, such as Jay Shah, the current chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), and other esteemed figures including Graeme Smith, Sourav Ganguly, Andrew Strauss, and England’s current captain, Heather Knight.

This high-profile committee, which brings together key figures from various corners of the cricketing world, is scheduled to convene at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on June 7 and 8. The meeting will take place just days before the final of the ICC World Test Championship, marking a significant occasion for the global cricket community.
