At least four inmates of the Galle Prison were injured and subsequently hospitalized following a violent clash that broke out this afternoon. The incident occurred after an argument between prisoners escalated into a physical altercation.

The injured individuals have been transferred to Galle National Hospital for treatment, though their conditions are not yet confirmed.

Prison Media Spokesperson, Gamini B. Dissanayake, confirmed that the dispute between inmates spiraled out of control, leading to the violent confrontation. In response to the situation, the Special Task Force (STF) and additional police personnel have been deployed to restore order and ensure the security of the facility.
