Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa Refutes Rumors on Wind Power Projects

Speaking at a press conference today at the Government Information Department, the Minister clarified that the reports circulating on the matter are completely false.
Dr. Jayatissa confirmed that the government has decided to conduct a review of the wind power projects, but emphasized that this review is focused solely on the electricity tariffs presented in the projects, not on the cancellation of the projects themselves.
"The Cabinet has not canceled the projects; it has only decided to revisit the electricity tariffs. The rumors suggesting otherwise are unfounded," he stated.
The Minister reassured the public that the wind power plants remain a crucial part of the country's renewable energy plans, and that the review will ensure the project aligns with national energy goals and economic feasibility.
The Poonaring and Mannar wind power projects are part of Sri Lanka's broader strategy to expand its renewable energy capacity, with a focus on harnessing wind power to meet growing electricity demands.
