The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced its 2024 ODI Team of the Year, and Sri Lanka has emerged as a dominant force, with four players making the prestigious list. Charith Asalanka, the Sri Lankan captain, has been appointed as the leader of the squad.

Asalanka, who has been in exceptional form, will captain a team that also includes opening batsman Pathum Nissanka, who has been named the number 3 batsman. Kusal Mendis, Sri Lanka's regular wicketkeeper, has also earned a place in the squad, being ranked number 4 in the batting lineup and designated as the team's wicketkeeper.

All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga completes the Sri Lankan contingent in the ICC’s 2024 ODI Team of the Year, taking the number 8 spot in the squad.

This recognition highlights Sri Lanka's growing prominence in international cricket, with their players being acknowledged for consistent performances at the highest level.

The ICC's Team of the Year selection is based on individual performances and overall impact throughout the year in ODI cricket, making this an impressive achievement for the Sri Lankan cricket team.
