In a meeting held at the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Ms. Julie Chang, reaffirmed the United States' commitment to supporting the advancement of Sri Lanka's health and media sectors.

The meeting, attended by Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, focused on the current state and future development plans in both fields.

Minister Jayatissa briefed Ambassador Chang on the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Sri Lanka’s free healthcare system, emphasizing plans to enhance the quality of services provided to the public.

He also outlined key projects, including the local production of essential medicines to address drug shortages, and the establishment of a chartered media institution to support journalists in the country.

Ambassador Chang expressed her admiration for Sri Lanka’s free healthcare system and inquired about specific areas where US assistance could help address the nation’s health challenges.

She assured the Minister that the US government would continue to provide both financial and technical support, as well as expertise, to help Sri Lanka achieve its goals in these sectors.

The Ambassador's visit highlighted the long-standing partnership between the US and Sri Lanka, with continued collaboration expected to bolster the development of the health and media sectors in the coming years.
