The Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court has issued an arrest order for Jaffna District Independent Member of Parliament, Ramanathan Archchuna, following allegations of obstructing police duties and committing traffic violations.

According to court sources, Archchuna is accused of interfering with police officers while they were carrying out their official duties, as well as engaging in several traffic-related offenses. The court has instructed the Anuradhapura police to apprehend the MP and present him before the court.

In addition to the arrest order, the magistrate has directed the Anuradhapura police to submit a full report of the incident and the facts of the case by February 3, 2025. The case has garnered significant attention, raising questions about the legal accountability of public officials.

The decision has sparked debate within political circles, with some questioning the fairness of the proceedings, while others emphasize the importance of upholding the rule of law for all citizens, regardless of their status.
