Sri Lanka Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire Agreement
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Sri Lanka welcomed the cessation of hostilities and the potential for improved humanitarian conditions in the region.
"We are hopeful that the ceasefire arrangement, which paves the way for exchange of hostages and detainees, the return of internally displaced persons to their places of residence in Gaza, and the provision of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, will be sustained," the statement read.
Sri Lanka also expressed optimism that this agreement could serve as a catalyst for broader peace efforts. "We are also optimistic that these developments will contribute to the establishment of sustainable peace in Palestine and the region," the Ministry added.
The announcement comes as global leaders continue to call for long-term solutions to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with hopes that the current ceasefire could pave the way for a more comprehensive and enduring peace agreement.
