A private passenger bus traveling from Kattankudy to Colombo was involved in a serious accident this morning near the Kallar Army camp in the Serunuwara area, located along the Serunuwara-Kantale road.

According to the Serunuwara Police, the incident occurred when the bus, carrying 49 passengers, lost control due to heavy rainfall, veered off the road, struck a tree, and subsequently toppled.

As a result of the accident, 14 passengers, along with the bus driver and conductor, sustained injuries and were promptly transported to the Serunuwara Hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, and the injured are reported to be receiving medical attention.

The police have urged motorists to exercise caution when traveling on the Serunuwara-Kantale road, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
