President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has revealed that 73 T56 assault rifles from a Sri Lankan Army camp have been stolen and are now in the hands of underworld groups, raising serious concerns about national security.
The President confirmed that 38 of the stolen rifles have been recovered, but 35 remain missing. Authorities have arrested 13 soldiers in connection with the incident.
The President also blamed the previous administration for creating widespread disorder in various sectors, which he said contributed to this alarming security lapse.
