Authorities have issued a flood warning for low-lying areas along the Deduru Oya valley as of 5:00 PM today ( January 19), following heavy rainfall in upstream and midstream regions. The affected areas include Wariyapola, Nikaweratiya, Mahawa, Kobeigane, Bingiriya, Pallama, Chilaw, Arachchikattuva, and Rasnayakapura Divisional Secretariat Divisions. Roads running through floodplains in these areas are likely to be inundated.
