Government offers Additional Rs. 2 per Kilo for Paddy Delivered to State Stores

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Namal Karunaratne announced that the government will provide an extra Rs. 2 per kilo of paddy delivered to government storage facilities, in addition to the guaranteed purchase price.
During a visit to the Morakatiya Paddy Storage Complex in Embilipitiya on yesterday ( January 18), he encouraged farmers to contribute at least 500kg of paddy to the storage facilities.
The collected paddy will be processed into rice and sold to consumers at lower prices to ensure affordability. “We are committed to ending the rice mafia and ensuring fair practices,” the Deputy Minister stated.
