Kumar Sangakkara to Lead Sri Lanka in Inaugural International Masters League
The tournament, set to take place in India from 22nd February to 16th March, will mark the 47-year-old former batsman's first involvement in competitive cricket since his retirement a decade ago.
Sangakkara, renowned for his elegant stroke play and leadership, will head a star-studded Sri Lankan squad in the first season of the IML, which will feature some of the game’s greatest icons.
The tournament will see legendary players representing cricketing powerhouses such as India, Sri Lanka, Australia, England, South Africa, and the West Indies.
Alongside Sangakkara, other cricketing greats will take the reins of their respective teams. India's Sachin Tendulkar, West Indies' Brian Lara, Australia’s Shane Watson, England’s Eoin Morgan, and South Africa’s Jacques Kallis will also lead their sides in a thrilling revival of past rivalries.
The IML promises to deliver a spectacle of nostalgia and high-level competition, as some of the finest players in cricket history once again take to the field for what is expected to be a thrilling battle of legends.
