The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) has issued a public warning about fraudulent text messages and phone calls offering fake monetary rewards or prizes.
Senior Information Engineer Charuka Damunupola highlighted the rise in scams targeting mobile users. “These fake messages often claim you’ve won prizes, offer discounts, or advertise jobs. We urge the public to avoid sharing personal information through such channels,” he said.
Damunupola also addressed the recent cyberattack on the Government Printing Department’s website, stating that vulnerabilities have been identified and efforts are underway to restore the site.
