Minister of Trade and Commerce, Wasantha Samarasinghe, announced plans to increase the number of Sathosa outlets across Sri Lanka to 1,000, aiming to lower consumer goods prices and provide relief to the public.

Speaking at the opening of the renovated Sathosa outlet near the Public Market Complex in Anuradhapura, the Minister highlighted that the government has successfully reduced the prices of goods by 17% over the past three months.

He added that more than 150 new Sathosa outlets will be launched in 2025 as part of a three-year plan to expand the network, transforming these outlets into customer service centers.

“In the last month alone, the prices of 40 essential items have been reduced by 8%. This expansion of Sathosa will help ensure affordable products for the people,” Samarasinghe said.
