A key workshop aimed at formulating a comprehensive reform and development plan for Sri Lanka's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector was held today, January 17, at the Ministry of Development Administration under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

The workshop's primary focus was to devise policy recommendations and specific tasks addressing critical issues related to the development of the TVET sector. Key proposals discussed during the event include expanding vocational training within the school system, linking higher education and vocational education to combat youth unemployment, and improving the quality of vocational qualifications to ensure national and international recognition.

These measures are expected to strengthen industry-sector relationships and enhance job opportunities.

In addition, the workshop also highlighted the importance of expanding vocational education opportunities for the disabled community, ensuring greater inclusivity in the sector.

The workshop was attended by Deputy Minister of Vocational Education Nalin Hewage, Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education Nalaka Kaluwewa, along with other key officials. The event was guided by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who holds the position of Minister in charge of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education.
